Objectives: This study aimed to identify factors influencing work retention among general hospital nurses.
Methods: Data were collected from 208 nurses working at a general hospital in Busan from December 9, 2021, to February 9, 2022. Data were analyzed using SPSS 26.0.
Results: Job esteem (¥â=.278, p<.001), natural emotional expression (¥â=.177, p=.005), very dissatisfied with salary (¥â=-.213, p<.001), working in the desired department (¥â=.125, p=.033) and age (¥â=.239, p<.001) influenced the work retention. However, the nursing work environment did not influence work retention.
Conclusions: To improve nurses¡¯ intentions to continue working in general hospitals, it is necessary to inspire job respect, reduce emotional labor through training, express feelings in a healthy way, and pay an appropriate salary.
